Sacramento healthcare professionals have a flexible new way to complete their American Heart Association® training. Safety Training Seminars, located at 2501 Capitol Ave Suite 107 in Midtown Sacramento, offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS—combining self-paced online learning with a self-guided skills session at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center.
You don’t need to block off an entire day or rearrange your shift schedule. With Self-Guided Learning, you study online at your own pace, then complete your skills session when it fits your calendar. For nurses, paramedics, and physicians working at nearby facilities like UC Davis Health (2315 Stockton Blvd) and Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (2825 Capitol Ave), this format removes a real barrier to staying current with American Heart Association training requirements.
Self-Guided Learning™ is a course-based learning option from the American Heart Association® that includes two components:
Unlike blended learning—which still requires a scheduled session with an instructor—Self-Guided Learning courses let you complete both components entirely on your own. There is no instructor facilitation during the skills session. Instead, the CPR Verification Station learning center provides real-time, objective performance feedback using a Voice-Assisted Manikin (VAM).
Upon successful completion of both components, learners receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS.
The online portion of a Self-Guided Learning course uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously evaluates your knowledge and confidence level, then adjusts the content path accordingly. If you already understand a concept, the system moves you forward. If you have a knowledge gap, it focuses more time there.
The result: a personalized learning pathway that is efficient and competency-focused. Most learners complete the online BLS activity in 1–2 hours. ACLS and PALS online learning typically takes 2–3 hours.
The online activity must be completed before scheduling your skills session. Completing the online portion alone does not result in an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard.
The self-guided skills session is completed at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at Safety Training Seminars’ Sacramento Midtown office—on the corner of Capitol Ave and 25th St, a few blocks from Sutter Medical Center and Capitol Park.
During the session, you independently perform the required psychomotor skills on a Voice-Assisted Manikin. The station measures performance against AHA-defined criteria, including compression depth, recoil, rate, and ventilation. You receive real-time, audiovisual feedback throughout.
There is no instructor present. No live coaching. No scheduled group session to coordinate with. The skills session typically takes around 30 minutes.
You may repeat the required skills activity as needed to achieve a passing score. Upon successful completion of both the online learning activity and the self-guided skills session, you receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard the same day.
Safety Training Seminars offers Self-Guided Learning courses for three American Heart Association programs:
All three courses follow the latest American Heart Association 2025 guidelines. All three result in an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard valid for two years.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.

Posted on Cat Wergin SchweikertTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Completely easy and seamless. The least stressful ACLS/PALS renewal I’ve ever had.Posted on sima sarkiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very convenientPosted on Mark HarrellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I did the Basic Life Support online class and skills. The online portion was through american heart associations program. It was very informative. And rather than signing up directly on AHA’s website, I did it here and was able to enter the fall discount code and get a discount on the bundle. Also, they guarantee the lowest price around also (without the discount code). The skills portion was a bit confusing when logging in on the computer. Since there was no instructor, I called the customer service rep and she guided me on getting the skills portion started. From that point forward, everything went smoothly with the skills portion. The computer program guides you through the whole skills process. Amazing experience, and I will be recommending them and using them again in the future.Posted on Anu MenonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was very seamless, had no issue at all for the skills portion to enter the building and quickly undergo the test in about 10 minutes (I did watch the demo video a few times, which helps!).Posted on Lauren AyalaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Quick and very clear instructions. Getting a good seal on the manakin for breaths can be a challenge but that can’t really be fixed as it was an issue at my last hospital job as well. Would go through this company again.Posted on noorkamal khehraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. "I recently completed the BLS (CPR) class and was thoroughly impressed! The instructor was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the material easy to understand. The hands-on practice experience was great I appreciated the interactive approach and the opportunity to ask questions. I highly recommend this BLS class to anyone looking to become certified or refresh their skills!"Posted on Anna KorolTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was very nervous for the exam. I am personally a visual learner, so I was very happy with the amount of videos that really described and showed the whole process for me. Thank you so much.
